How to speed up Rublon Prompt loading on Windows Logon & RDP

Modified on Wed, 27 Mar 2024 at 02:51 PM

Here are a few ways how to make the Rublon Prompt load faster during your Windows Logon and RDP logins.

Way 1: Update to the latest version

To speed up the Rublon Prompt loading time on Rublon for Windows Logon and RDP connector, download the latest version of the connector and install it on your machine.

The latest versions of the connector often contain performance optimizations that speed up the loading of Rublon Prompt.

Way 2: Disable Active Directory phone number querying

If you are not using the SMS Passcode or SMS Link authentication method, you can consider disabling ShouldTryToGetPhoneFromAD.

To disable Active Directory phone number querying:

1.  Go to your Windows Registry and locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Rublon\WindowsLogon.

2. Change the value of ShouldTryToGetPhoneFromAD to 0.

Way 3: Disable send NTLM and send UPN

You can set SendNTLM and SendUPN to 0. However, be aware that if both SendUPN and SendNTLM are set to 0, Rublon will send just the username without the domain to the Rublon API. This is fine in some use cases, especially when you have Username Normalization enabled. However, it might not be recommended in other scenarios.

Way 4: Disable Active Directory email querying

If you have already enrolled all your users and you are not using the Email Link authentication method, you can consider disabling Active Directory email querying.

To disable Active Directory email address querying:

1. Go to your Windows Registry and locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Rublon\WindowsLogon.

2. Change the value of ShouldTryToGetEmailFromAD to 0.

Way 5: Look at your network and firewall settings

If changing the preceding didn’t give you the results you wanted and Rublon Prompt still takes a long time to load, check if the following are true:

  • Busy or high-latency network

  • High ping

  • Antivirus scanning the connection and slowing it down

And fix them accordingly.
